Staying On Top of the Mess During Window Replacement

It’s time for your window replacement project, and you don’t have to wait until the job is completed to feel relieved. With a little bit of preparation beforehand, you can stay on top of the mess that comes with replacing windows in order to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible!

Clear the Area Around the Window

The very first step before having your windows replaced is to clear out the area around them. You want to move any furniture that could be in the way and put it someplace safe, such as a corner room or an attached garage. Additionally, if you plan on replacing multiple windows at one time or doing other projects like replacing insulation, make sure you clear out enough space for both contractors and materials to pass through without obstruction.

Protect Your Furniture

After the area around your window is cleared, it’s essential to take special care of any remaining furniture near the window. Cover these pieces with thick plastic sheets or drop cloths in order to protect them from possible dust, debris and damage during an installation.

Prepare for Potential Dust and Debris

Although the installation of windows typically doesn’t create too much mess, taking precautions by laying down plastic sheeting or drop cloths all around your home is also advised. Much like during a roof replacement, the dust and debris created during this process can be easily kept to a minimum if you take the time to prepare beforehand.

Clean up the Area Around the Window

No matter the precautions you take, some dust and debris are unavoidable. To help keep your home and windows clean during your installation process, make sure to have a vacuum on hand so that you can quickly pick up any mess.

Check the Window for Any Signs of Damage

Before putting the furniture back in place after the installation is done, it’s necessary to check your windows for any signs of damage. Gently feel around each window pane and record any scuffs or scratches you may notice. If further work is needed, this step will save you the trouble of cleaning up and putting everything back in place in case things get messy again!

Put Back the Furniture in Its Original Place

Now that everything’s in order, it’s time to put the furniture back in its original place. Remember, replacing windows doesn’t have to be a headache! With the proper preparation, you can stay on top of any mess and ensure that everything is done correctly.
